Como estan "beaches?"

Today was a long and hot, but fun day for Sam and I on Ocean Isle. We managed to reach three generations of CW fans when they least expected it. It seemed like we covered every inch of the island, from the great beaches and homey campgrounds to the friendly local businesses.

We had a great time hanging out with these families on the beach who happen to be from Cheerwine's hometown of Salisbury, NC. Not only that but all the ladies in the picture actually went to the same high school as Sam. Go figure, and...go falcons! The kids were great too. We didn't even need to ask them to pose for us, they were just naturals (I'm not so sure about the dad though).

These are some of our other new friends from today's travels. Baby Luke is a born Cheerwine fan who doesn't care at all that he gets almost as much in his mouth as he does on his body. As for the man in the picture with Sam: he’s got us both beat in experience in the soft drink business by a long shot. He did sampling just like us for part of his 43 year career at Pepsi.

That’s about all for today, but come and find Sam and I tomorrow as we drive our van, “Red,” to Sunset Beach, NC. We love the feedback that all you CW fans have been giving us so please keep writing and we’ll keep traveling.

And then there were two

Today Zach left the team for a while, but don't worry, he'll be back in a month or so. See how he's not even sad about it.

Steve and I will be driving the R.A.O.S. van around until then. Today we were around North Myrtle Beach. Almost the first thing we saw when we got to the city was a Cheerwine truck stopped at a gas station. We decided to pull over and meet whoever was driving it. It turned out to be this nice guy named Chester from Charlotte. We talked for a while and gave him a Cheerwine for the road.

We drove down a small backroad and ended up at an Animal Shelter where some women were gardening outside. They appreciated the cold drinks we gave them a lot and told us to go inside. When we got in there were animals all over the place. We met Sasha the dog and Mean Patches the cat. I guess there is also a nice Patches somewhere.

Just down the street from the animal shelter was a practice building for a local fire department. We helped them take a break by giving them some Cheerwines taking a few pictures.

We left and tried to find the mayor of the city. She wasn't at town hall but everyone else working there enjoyed getting some Cheerwine. There were quite a few people inside who had never tried it before.
Neither of us had even seen the beach since we got here so that seemed like the next logical place to find thirsty people. We walked on the beach and then to a fishing pier where we found a group of fishermen who had never tried Cheerwine before. One of the guys, who was from Ohio, immediately began asking us where he could buy a cases of Diet Cheerwine to take home.

It was a good day for meeting people. Tomorrow we'll be around Ocean Isle, come find us!

Day 1

Today we took off for Bike Week down at Myrtle Beach in search of some some thirsty people in need of a cold Cheerwine.

First we stopped "south of the border" and got our first taste of the South Carolina heat. We took some pictures and gave some Cheerwine to some bikers that were headed to Myrtle then we got on the road.

Just outside Myrtle we spotted some construction workers that were feelin' the heat as much as we were. We thought they could use a little break so we stopped the van outside the work site. We had to pick up some hard hats before going in--pretty dangerous stuff.

We got to the beach and tons of bikers cleaned us out of a lot of Cheerwine. We caught some dinner and turned in to get some rest for tomorrow. You might see us if you look "North" of where we were today.

kick-off

Today we kicked off our random acts of sampling mission. We're trying to get a cold Cheerwine to the people that need it the most--when they least expect it.

For Memorial Day weekend, we'll be driving our big red van anywhere close to Myrtle Beach, Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach. Find us and tell us your favorite Cheerwine stories.
